Hi C1ers
Has anyone ever removed the bottom of the fork ends? There is an M8 bolt appearing to hold them onto the fork end, but I don’t think it’s as simple as that!

Never have reason to remove bottom of fork. Maybe attached link help:https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0192-EUR-02-2002-C1N-BMW-C1_200_0192_&diagId=31_0555

Hi Rocksteady
Thanks for your reply, here’s a photo of the bolt I’m talking about, any thoughts?

my guess is that it is a heavy press fit, in which case removal is risky because you have to grip the thin wall tube. assembly could be an even greater problem. another factor could be leakage.
on the other hand, it may be a loose press fit with an internal o ring in the bottom boss or suchlike.
any special reason for dis-assembly?

Hi Leon
The reason for thinking if it could come apart easily is just to separate it for spraying the black & silver, I’ll leave this set alone and dig out an one set to play about with! I was thinking it would probably not be straight forward!

I’ve never noticed that bolt before. It’s worth undoing and having a bit of a go at removing the bottom part I reckon.
