BMW tell me that keys for my bike are no longer available so I bought a few supposedly blank C1 keys on EBay. They are too small and their grooves are wrong compared to the original one. Sellers on ebay insist their blanks will fit but they are 100%wrong. I eventually tracked down a generic car key blank that works. It has a code on it, ZD23RT5. Type it into google there are lots of suppliers.

Thank you.
My biggest hurdle is to locate a blank key for the left compartment storage cover.

I never lock mine

Same here. Locking is totally pointless

I do lock mine as when magnet isn’t fitted well flap may open when taking a corner/bumps and block steering wheel.

I’ve been riding C1s for 17 years, always unlocked, and that has never happened

+1
Even if the flap did open, it aint gonna stop a handlebar turning.

I also have a spare key made from a JMA blank, which has a reference
ZA9P on it.
