We have several new members, I think it's about time those of us that can get together erm....get together?
I would suggest that there are a few possibilites
The Goodwood Breakfast Club - Sunday Nov 2nd 8.00am is VeePower Sunday (cars and bikes)
Brooklands Motor Museum
The motorcycle museum in Greenford (I can't recall what it is called)
The ACE Cafe - Thursday September 18th 6.00pm Classic Scooters and other stuff
The Pumping Museum Hampton (also known as the steam Railway) - September 27th -28th The classic Bike and car show at Sunbury (the pumping museum)
or the traditional Hampton Curry :-)
Anyone up for it, it only takes two to make a meet? We'll never get back to the good old days but let's not let it all fade away......
That sounds like a good idea!
Here's my strongest suggestion......
(Apologies for the incorrect date in my earlier posting, there is an error on the Museum's website)
If we aim for the Classic Car and Bike show at Hampton on Saturday 27th (and yes that massive engine that used to pump water all over London will be fired up and pumping, THAT should get Steamerpoint here :-) ) we can also head for the Curry House in the evening. Fatty fatty Boom Boom!
Anyone who wants to make a weekend of it can also head for Brooklands on Sunday
Ooh. I may be tempted for the classic car/bike show. I'd have my son with me, so would bring the red car, which has a similar BHP:litre ratio to a C1-is that ok?
4 me- Ok for Sunday not so sure about Saturday...
Actually let's make a decision now then......
We'll go for SUNDAY 28th
I'll post more information/ links etc later today when I'm on a PC rather than my iPhone
It is a great place, the pumping station is impressive on its own, there is a narrow gauge railway (restored) which used to bring coal from the river at nearby Hampton and the classic car/ bike event will add further interest.
The curry house at Hampton is a few miles away and will be open Sunday evening if anyone can hang around.
Access for distance travellers - it's Junction 1 M3
Come on guys (and gals)
Will try for Sunday instead.
Sorry guys can't make it, I'll be at Pistons and Props at Sywell Aerodrome.
Have a great day, hope it goes well
I'm doing the Distinguished Gentleman's ride in London that day on my Ducati cafe racer. It's in aid of prostate cancer research so it'll take priority I'm afraid. Another time ;-)
I can come on the Sunday. A friend would also like to come in his classic car.
I can't make Sunday I'm afraid - hope to see you all another time.
Hey Mad, can you confirm details?
I'm looking at the Hampton website, but can't find anything about an event on 28 September .
The latest info appears to be that the cars and bikes are
The hours appear to be 10.30 - 4.00 so I suggest we all meet at 12.00 noon. I shall phone today to confirm and see if I can display my Williams.
Please keep checking this thread.
My mobile is 07976 390094
Ok. Looks like I'm good to be there.
Phil, are you displaying? I'm coming in the red car...
I'm not displaying as I could not relocate their phone number.
I will take the Williams and try my luck on the day.
Same here then. See you there.
Looks like 4 or 5 people may be there tomorrow.
The website says that display vehicles need to be in situ by 0930. Too early for me - I have a late arrival into LHR the night before.
I will also plan to be there at midday. I've been to the event a couple of years ago and people with interesting cars and bikes park directly outside the pump building. Three or four C1s side by side should be easy to find a good location!
Cheerio, see you tomorrow.
I should be there in an interesting car. Save me a space nect to the C1's if poss, ill be there before 11 with any luck.
My car has a very similar BHP:litre ratio.
Nice to see you Phil. That Williams is pretty darn clean!
Days before last meeting got rear bearing failure, now stripped engine waits for head gasket from Germany. I am scarred to think what will go wrong shortly before next meet...
rear bearing failure quite rare. was spacer tube fitted right way round?
Yes- sleeve with collar towards inside, 130Nm. Think that partially it was my getting too excited about new Karcher pressure washer.
I have a potential rear bearing failure. It was a generous advisory at the MOT, there's quite a bit of movement which at first glance doesn't look like the engine pivots. I'll delve a bit deeper at the weekend.
Sorry, love to pop over but I'm busy with the family today.
Hope you all have a good time!
