Topic Front Brake Hose By Steamerpoint Date 08.08.19 11:09
Thanks for your advice. I will start searching on ebay and failing that, attempt to get another one made up.  :)
Topic Front Brake Hose By Steamerpoint Date 05.08.19 00:05
The bottom of the front brake hose has just broke away from the fitting where it attaches to the brake unit.

Does anyone know if the brake hoses are universal to most motorcycles or are they bespoke the BMW C1's?

If so, where could I get a replacement? Cheers.

Spotted this C1 125 for sale on ebay.

Link

The owner states:
'ULEZ exemption has been granted in writing so no daily £12.50 fee in London ULEZ zone.'

I suspect this applies to only the 125's then because my 200 comes up as not exempt! :-(

I heard about the solar farm and the travelers site some months back which is great news. If you get your C1 back on the road and fancy a ride out somewhere, give me a shout. Mine will need a quick mot and some insurance and I'm good to go.

Here is some info Chris.

And the attachment shows the proposed location! :-(

Hi Chris. I heard that ToysRUs were clamping down on people parking in their carpark who were not customers, so worth checking this out before you do much parking there.
I think you might be safer at the Liddl carpark just a little further away.

Could you cycle? Only 35 minutes ride to the station from Newborough. We do it often.

Older cars tend to be much easier to work on than hi-tech cars, but essentially the internal combustion engine uses the same principles and most things are repairable.

I guess you must have been concerned about the risk of having an official travellers site across the road from your house! I have been keeping my fingers crossed for weeks now! Still a chance it could happen by the sound of it! :-(

Hi Chris. It was good meeting you this morning. I couldn't believe that there was another C1 in the village and to think you live only 100 meters from me on the very same road too! :-)
I'm not that mechanically experienced with the C1 as mine only has 10k on the clock and has been fairly reliable over the last 11 years, but I am an ex aircraft mechanical engineer, have some tools and a C1 200 in my garage with a brand new battery if you need to borrow it. Cheers, another Chris.

I think I have seen photos of your silver C1.

I have just ordered a new battery and a CTEK MXS 3.8 battery charger/ conditioner to keep the battery in good condition.
My son has been begging me to get it back on the road as he wants me to take him to the school prom on it next summer!

Once I have a working battery, I can investigate the leak. It may be fork seals or it may be coolant fluid. There is no rush, but if I start putting things right again.

Or alternatively, you could just buy some reusable cable ties. :-)

My lugs didn't fail. I just hadn't locked the catch down correctly,  but I accept your point that the lugs can fail and your solution to deal with it. :-)

Thanks. The PDB accidentally fell off the bike when riding into town in 2003! I hadn't secured it down correctly! As a result, it was scratched up on 3 sides, so my option was to spray it to match the bike. :-)

Been having a garage sort out this week and languishing in a dark corner was my silver C1 200 Exec under a centimeter of dust and grime! She hasn't seen daylight for at least 4-years.

Today I pumped up the tires and pushed her outside. A bucket of soapy water, a chamois leather, a polishing cloth and 3-hours of elbow grease brought her back up to a decent condition.

I checked the oil level, water level and tried to start her up, but the battery was dead. Jump leads connected to the car and the first push of the start button, she fired into life!

I discovered some fluid on the front mudguard before I started cleaning her though, which could either be fork seals or coolant, so need to investigate this further once the battery is charged up/ replaced.

Thanks for the invite, but others are depending on me as one of the organisers of a fairly challenging meet and I couldn't let them down.

I'm sure you'll have a great time though. I know the area well as I was stationed 40-miles away near Essen & Dussledorf. :-)

Can't come I'm sorry. Apart from the fact that my C1 is not on the road, I will be taking part in a sailing meet to sail across to the Isle of Wight on the 21st of June!

Have fun though. ;-)
